A walk in the medieval town

An itinerary in the walled city of Como to discover some evidence of its medieval past. The walk starts from piazza Duomo, which faces the Broletto (the old town hall) and the Cathedral, visit the Interior of the Cathedral and then continue along via Vittani, the medieval stronghold of the Guelph family of Vittani. Continue walking up to San Fedele, with the splendid Dragon portal (pictured above); from here you reach Porta Torre, originally part of the defensive walls of the city. Outside the walls head towards the ancient via Regina to admire the architecture and frescoes of Sant'Abbondio, a Romanesque masterpiece of Como
